The Pousada Eckerlino is located on the north-east coast of Brasil in Lauro de Freitas, a quiet suburb of Salvador de Bahia, on the wonderful beaches of Buraquinho and Vilas do Atlantico.

The heart of Brasil beats in Bahia. The state in the north-east of the South American land is with 561’000 km roughly as big as France and has nearly 12 mio. Inhabitants, over 80% of which are dark skinned. This being an inheritance of the African aneestors, which also influences the music, festivals, religion, sport, food and tradition.

Bahia is poor on industry but rich on beautiful beaches and historical colonial architecture. It has long tradition of being a tourist area. Every year thousands of young people from Rio and Sao Paulo take part in the carnival at Salvador and then spend their holidays on the sun drenched beaches of Bahia.

Over the past years the north and south coast road systems have been greatly improved and even the most remote parts are now accessible by car.
